Heavy Betting

My husband and I make wagers with each other on the regular. He kindly indulges me in the cycle of enthusiastic betting, mid-game smack talk, then the inevitable sore losership.

We make bets on everything from which player will score the most points in any given Pitt basketball game, to who will win on an episode of 'Chopped'. We also share a bank account so we have to get creative with our wagers.

Our most destructive favorite wager is a weekly football bet against the spread. We alternate picks with all the games and the weekly loser has to do a household chore. The cumulative loser for the season has to plan Valentines' Day.

Below are the results from Week 17 (the final regular season week in the NFL)

In case you're having a hard time reading that, I'll spell it out for you - the St Louis Rams played way better than they should have and so did Atlanta and a quarterback from Denver that prays a lot lost by a lot - all of which added up to me losing the season by 3 games!
   3 games!
Looks like I'm going to have to get real romantic real fast. As per the rules, I have a maximum of $109 to spend because that's the total number of games I won (which seems like a lot - we didn't think the hypothetical loser would do so well when we made the rules).

If anyone has any valentines ideas please forward them along to a very bitter loser who is contemplating spending $10.90 on some wendy burger and a red box movie.

  1. Hi,
I have been searching for this information and finally found it. Thanks!

  2. Weird comment above... Anyway...

I just read a review of Legume Bistro, which recently moved from Regent Square to good old Oakland, and it sounds amazing. It isn't terribly expensive -- I think $109 should cover dinner, dessert, and even a bottle of wine!

Plus you get the added (free) benefit of a romantic stroll around Oakland -- and if you go on Feb. 12, Pitt vs. WVU!!!

Or you could just go to that game ;)
